ever pause to wonder why the media-reported ‘unemployment’ rate finally started to decline in 2011, and keeps slowly declining? If you know anything about how the ‘unemployment’ rate is calculated, these two simple graphs will tell you everything, unless you flunked third grade math. If you’re a grown-up possessing at least a sixth-grade reading comprehension, and these two graphs don’t disturb you, well then, never-mind. Ignorance is bliss, the world is flat and unicorns really do exist. Real unemployment continues to climb, and is a catastrophe. A national disgrace. (graphs best viewed on desktop)
Eternal Drama
The Valente Celle Tomb (Staglieno Cemetery, Genoa). This funeral monument, “Eternal Drama”, expresses the futile attempt of life to escape the inevitable embrace of death.
The sculptor, Giulio Monteverde (1837-1917) expresses this eternal struggle between Life (personified by a beautiful young woman caught in the moment in which, wearied by vain struggle, surrenders herself to the terrible spectre who has chosen her) and the profound indifference of Death which seizes her. We all have a rendezvous with Death, which is what makes life so precious and sweet. Without death, life would be unbearable.
“A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”
